    The Way Forward?

I think the Democrats forgot the golden rule of politics which they themselves devised twenty years ago: “It’s the economy, stupid.” Until unemployment is under control voters will not care about any other issue. After health care, there should not be a single issue that Congress debates until November. It should be job package after job package. If they want to move on financial reform, they do it quietly. If they want to pass cap-and-trade, they do it in a Green Jobs bill. There should not be a single piece of major legislation sent to Obama’s desk that does not have the word “Jobs” in the title…

Back on November 5, I penned these words:

If you want to lose the 2010 elections, then go ahead and don’t do anything meaningful with your control of government. Unexcited Obama voters and progressives will stay home on election night just like they did in Virginia and change will finally come to Washington—you will be out of power and the Republicans will be back in power…

Hi! The Roundtablet team is extremely excited about this new site of ours. We have some exciting things in the pipeline, and the rest of the team will be introducing themselves throughout the next week. But I’ll start it off–I am Alexander Hurst, founder and editor of roundtablet.com. Hopefully, by the fall this site will be much more extensive, and we will be providing valuable strategy for the Democrats, progressive candidates, and all those working on progressive causes…
